VIDEO IN THE LEARNING ECOSYSTEM
Facilitator- Erin Harris
With 40% of learners are turning towards video for learning in their personal lives, there is a growing realization that video is an essential part of any corporate learning strategy. While the upsurge in video streaming in consumer markets may have led to increasing video in the workplace, effectiveness does not necessarily follow popularity. How effective is video as a modality? Does it truly help people learn? And how can we make video an interactive rather than passive medium? In this session, we’ll examine different types of learning content, and how it may resonate with video approaches (for example, conceptual and storytelling vs. procedural and process driven). Video for learning needs to be carefully considered to move from a passive to an active learning experience designed with a purpose, including having specific goals and learning outcomes in mind. When pedagogically designed with the appropriate level of reinforcement, chunking, and engagement prompts, video content can prove to be an indispensable component of a holistic learning strategy.
SUDDENLY REMOTE! DESIGN IMPLICATIONS FOR LEARNING DURING THE PANDEMIC AND BEYOND
So, what just happened? It appears like we blinked and everything changed. As super traditional learning organizations struggle to make sense of the "New Normal" as a result of the COVID 19 Pandemic, it is a bewildering time for many L&D professionals. Most facilitators/ Trainers cannot wait to be back on the road travelling and facilitating classroom trainings, even though they know in their heart of hearts that that wont be happening anytime soon. From an instructional design standpoint, the challenge is no less daunting. How do we transform a classroom based training into a remote one which is as effective and engaging? This session will explore the design implications for a suddenly remote learners and how to ensure that the learning is as effective, if not more.

How can you run your organization when you don’t know how tomorrow will affect your employees or customers, or if new regulations will change the way things work? Traditional and change management tools require a definition of the future, which none of us has. So what can you do actually do – today, tomorrow, and next week, when the future is unclear and every move seems wrong? Bestselling author, and well-known whiteboard guy Ed Muzio helps you practice techniques for moving into an unknown future, one intelligent step at a time.
SELF CARE: NOT A LUXURY BUT A NECESSITY
Facilitator- Sandra Wright
The Wright Training Solutions
Self-care is simply the act of being loving and generous to ourselves. It's easy to prioritize everything else from bosses we want favors from, to friends/associates who don't really care for us. It is also easy to prioritize a side hustle or projects that we want to take off the ground. But what good is all this activity if we aren't there to enjoy them? Or if our family lives and relationships break down? The time in a day is finite and with a day ending in 24 hours we need to be more deliberate about what portion is solely for our well-being.
AWESOME POWERPOINT TRICKS FOR EFFECTIVE PRESENTATIONS

You’ll see a host of visual storytelling techniques, all demonstrated live, that you can use immediately to create amazing presentations or interactive content, with a special focus on the key techniques needed for more compelling online content.
HOW COVID-19 TAUGHT MY ORGANIZATION TO STOP COMMUNICATING AND START CONNECTING
Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta
For years, I've heard colleagues lament at our various organizations' inability to effectively communicate while, simultaneously, I've heard my senior-most leaders lament that they're doing everything they can think to effectively communicate. When COVID-19 forced our organization to go exclusively remote, I watched my colleagues learn how to connect, not communicate, and I realized we'd be doing it all wrong. We were communicating to drive connection, but COVID-19 taught us that we must connect to drive communication. In this presentation, I will unpack the six key changes our organization made to make the switch from communicating to connecting.

LEADING CHANGE IN A VUCA WORLD
Many business leaders are struggling to adjust to the new normal of digital disruption, ever-changing workplace norms and the constant but necessary evolution of our business reality. Success in today’s world is about more than just managing these changes–it’s about leading teams who are confident and capable of embracing, innovating, and implementing change. DRAWING OUT YOUR GENIUS: HOW DOODLING AIDS COMMUNICATION, COLLABORATION, CREATIVE THINKING AND CULTURE -- ONLINE AND OFF
Drawing Out Your Genius
In today's increasingly complex, digital, data-driven and now virtual & remote world, the ability to engage, communicate and collaborate visually -- from napkin sketches to online whiteboards -- is a uniquely human superpower that can bridge many gaps, physical, interpersonal, and cognitive. In this workshop, you'll learn how to use the language of simple drawings to: • explain and simplify complex ideas and processes • foster collaboration, mutual understanding and respect in teams • gain consensus, buy-in and commitment to action • captivate and engage any audience, in-person or virtual - even if you think you can't draw your way out of a wet paper bag!
KNOWING WHEN TO INTERACT
Many instructional designers, especially new ones, fail to understand why and when to use interactions in their eLearning. It's a common misconception that interactions don't have to serve a purpose and should be included in training modules to entertain the learner. Also, more and more employers are testing potential instructional design hires on their ability to not only develop and design, but to understand and be able to articulate the reasons behind their design decisions. In this session, we'll discuss why and when interactions are needed and practice creating them as well.
MAINTAINING RELEVANCE IN A DISTANCE WORKING WORLD
Facilitator- Dr. Mary Ritz
Almenta International, LLC
As the virtual working phenomenon gains momentum, however, employees, managers, and leaders are becoming more concerned about potential impacts on career advancement. A concerning line of thinking for many is the idea that by working remotely, they may be passed over for career advancements and promotion opportunities due to being ‘out of sight and out of mind’. As a result, the following questions come to the forefront: How do you advance your career while working remotely? How do you remain relevant and valuable to your organization while you work away from your leaders, managers, and even peers? How do you ensure you’re not being overlooked for that promotion you’ve been working toward for the last couple of years? If these very real apprehensions that people have with regard to their future go unaddressed or are mismanaged, organizations may face a drop in employee morale or issues with retaining valued personnel. In this session, Dr. Mary Ritz will provide strategies and tips for how team members, leaders, and managers can stay relevant, valuable to their organizations, and manage to fairly compete for promotion while working remotely.

DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION PANEL
This year, we will host a Diversity and Inclusion panel during our ACE 2020 Conference. Now is the time to act on building our vision toward racial equality within organizations.
